Many types of domains practically scream that they can make you money, but IDNs are rather conservative as their use is still very new. The potential for decent profit, though, is very real. When you buy a domain name like Widget.com or something similar you’ll have traffic from English speaking regions. However, buying Widget.com in Chinese or Arabic taps a part of the internet market previously off limits to you and opens up a large new market for you. Formerly, merchandisers had to depend on auction sites and bloggers and forum masters could only hope that English-speaking people in foreign countries would stumble across their site and contribute. By having an IDN, you gain instant access to a large percentage of the world’s population that otherwise would never have known your site existed since they do not speak English as a second language.
